From our roots in Kent to projects across three continents, Overland has transformed high-tech horticultural support.
Founded in 2009, Overland was born from a clear need: the rapidly expanding high-tech greenhouse sector in Kent required a specialised, agile "local support mechanism."
At the time, professional services for intensive horticultural operations were primarily managed by overseas firms based in the Netherlands. We stepped in to bridge that gap, providing the proactive, time-critical, and highly mechanical support necessary to keep large-scale operations moving. Today, we are proud to be the trusted partner for over 800ha of greenhouse and poly tunnel crops across the UK, with expanding projects in the USA and Australia.
Established as an agricultural contracting business to support local horticultural giants like Thanet Earth, providing essential end-of-crop rotation and waste management services.
Recognizing that our heavy-mechanical greenhouse technology could transform polytunnel production, we entered the Soft Fruit industry. Our deployment of large-scale mechanical resources allowed growers to move away from arduous manual labour, significantly increasing operational efficiency.
We developed a proprietary method to process and re-use growing media. This marked a shift in our business model from "service provider" to "sustainability leader."
Overland Nursery was built. As a national milestone, we successfully produced 250,000 raspberry plants grown in 100% recycled substrate, proving that large-scale horticulture can be both productive and circular.
At Overland, we refuse to see the end of a crop cycle as the end of the line. Where others see waste, we see an opportunity to either reduce or process and refine into a high-performance resource.
By scaling our proprietary processing methods, we now divert over 100,000m³ of used coir growing media back into the professional and amateur markets every year. This "closed-loop" approach isn't just about reducing landfill—it’s about building a more resilient supply chain that protects both the environment and the grower's bottom line.
